Robots have traditionally been controlled by custom code or a “teach pendant,” (or “teach box”) which is essentially a control box allowing you to manually control each movement step-by-step.

But what if there was a more intuitive way to move a robot?

While you may be familiar with Maya being used to animate CG creatures and characters, Evan Atherton and Nick Cote, researchers at the Autodesk Robotics Lab, have found a new way to “animate” real-life robots with their Maya plugin Mimic.
